Klook's Vietnam Strategy Signals Regional Shift in Tourism

SINGAPORE

Experiences platform Klook has signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with Vinpearl and Sun Hospitality and Entertainment, both major attraction operators in Vietnam. This move follows Klook's Kreatorverse 2026 summit in August. These partnerships aim to curate experiences, support destination development, and capture demand for Vietnam, specifically addressing rising traveller interest from Singapore.

Vietnam has been identified by IHG as one of its best-performing Asia-Pacific markets. This aligns with Klook's focus, as its existing partnership with the Singapore Tourism Board, established in 2020, also targeted local tourism growth through bundle deals. The current agreements with Vinpearl and Sun Hospitality and Entertainment deepen Klook's footprint within a market showing growth.

Data and Demand Patterns

While Klook's strategy focuses on Vietnam, the broader regional context shows varied travel intentions. A survey indicates Taiwanese travelers lead the region in second-half travel plans. This suggests that while Vietnam presents a strong immediate opportunity, other markets may offer differing growth trajectories or require distinct engagement strategies from platforms like Klook. The current agreements are specific to Vietnam; their effect on broader Asia-Pacific market dynamics or Klook's overall regional performance beyond Vietnam is not yet quantifiable.

Klook's approach in Vietnam, centered on formal agreements with major operators, points to a concentrated effort to secure inventory and distribution within a market experiencing inbound tourism growth. The reported rising interest in Vietnam from Singapore further refines the target demographic for these new ventures. However, the exact financial implications or projected market share gains from these specific MOUs have not been disclosed. The agreements, while strategic for Klook and its local partners, primarily outline intent. The conversion of these MOUs into sustained market dominance or significant shifts in regional tourism flows will depend on their execution and the continued stability of Vietnam's inbound tourism.

The political stability in Vietnam, underlined by its hosting of a US aircraft carrier and discussions regarding regional rivals, suggests a consistent environment for tourism development. This broader context could support Klook's investment, providing a foundational stability often critical for long-term tourism initiatives. Yet, the specific commercial returns for Klook from these MOUs, beyond expressed intent, await future reporting.
